Case Studies

Jackson avenue, leeds

We were asked to look at reconfiguration of the existing rooms at the back of the house for a sociable family. The final proposal deals with the practical needs of utility space in the centre of the house, freeing up space for a dramatic, sunny garden room.

We introduced a window seat as part of a small snug area and a large bank of sliding doors to open onto the garden from the new dining space. The kitchen is designed to be the beating heart of the home, easily accommodating large groups of friends.

Lidgett Mount, leeds

A key part of the brief from Andy and Vikki was to design a flexible space within a particular budget. We explored a number of options before agreeing carefully chosen areas of glass to frame views through the house into the garden.

The extension was designed to maximise height internally and emphasize the feeling of space and light in a relatively small space.

Newlands

Timber-framed new-build energy efficient house for Hannah, Hank and family. The house is split across 4 levels with a dramatic staircase that links the spaces.

The house was designed to replace an existing derelict barn building, conceived as an upside-down house to create a private, open-plan living space flooded with light in the large roof volume.

Weston lane, otley

Modern extension and reconfiguration of a beautiful arts and crafts house in Otley. We designed the extension to be within Permitted Development guidelines and captured morning sun on the breakfast table through an invisible glass slot between new and old sections of the house.

The whole outer wall opens up for everyone to spill out into the garden at the end of the day
